Health Secretary Francisco T. Duque III today visited the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) along costal Road, Parañaque City to monitor adherence of the public transport terminal to the Minimum Public Health Standards (MPHS) embodied in the BIDA Solusyon sa COVID-19 campaign of the Department of Health (DOH).
Secretary Duque witnessed the commitment and efforts the management of PITX in applying the basic health and safety protocols for the travelling public and PITX employees for the prevention of COVID-19 transmission within the transport setting.
During the interview by the press, Sec. Duque made emphasis on the significance of the BIDA Solusyon sa COVID-19 Campaign of the health department. Incidentally, BIDA Solusyon sa COVID-19 is an acronynm which stands for B - Bawal walang mask; I - I-sanitize ang mga kamay, Iwas hawak sa mga bagay; D - Dumistansya ng isang metro; and, A - Alamin ang totoong impormasyon.
It was clearly observed that PITX is implementing temperature check, face mask and face shield check, physical distancing, hand sanitizing, health declaration and contact tracing information prior to entry to the terminal. BIDA information materials are seen in strategic areas on the terminal. Safety personnel clad in Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) performs regular disinfection of the place.
Sec. Duque and the rest of the DOH team was warmly welcomed by Hon, Edwin L. Olivarez, Mayor of Parañaque City; Dr. Olga Z. Virtusio, City Health Officer; and Mr. Jason Salvador, Head,PITX Corporate Affairs and Government Relations. Dr. Corazon I. Flores, OIC-Director IV; Dr. Maria Paz P. Corrales, Director III and selected staff of the DOH-Metro Manila Center for Health Development joined the team that accompanied Sec. Duque during the visit.
PITX is co-managed by the Megaworld Construction Corporation and the Department of Transportation (DOTr). This is another notable endeavor that signifies strong Public-Private Partnership for the health and safety of the people.
