The Hong Kong Bay Area Dragons basketball team received their booster doses of COVID-19 vaccines at Shangri-La Residences, Bonifacio Global City (BGC), Taguig, last October 11, 2022, through the assistance of the Taguig City Local Government Unit and Department of Health-Metro Manila Center for Health Development (DOH-MMCHD).

This is where DOH-MMCHD Regional Director Gloria J. Balboa vaccinated some of the basketball players such as Mr. Hayden Blankey and Mr. Glen Yang, as well as other players and coaching staff of the Hong Kong Bay Area Dragons Basketball Team.

The total number of vaccinated players and coaching staff of the said team is estimated at 12. Of the said number, 6 were vaccinated with the 1st booster doses while 6 were vaccinated for the 2nd booster doses.

The successful vaccination of the team would not have happened without the Taguig City Health Office led by Dr. Norena Osano and Dr. Jennifer Lou De Guzman, Taguig COVID-19 Vaccination Focal Person and National Immunization Program Coordinator.

Also present in the said vaccination were, DOH-MMCHD Development Management Officer (DMO) IV, Ms. Niña Allen Galema, as well as Dr. Lawrence Irving Bernardo, who is both the orthopedic surgeon of St. Luke's BGC and the current team physician of the Hong Kong Bay Area Dragons Basketball Team.

While in the country, the team decided to get their additional protection against COVID-19 as they are set to play at the 2022-23 Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Commissioner's Cup as a guest team.
