Binigyang pagkilala ang Department of Health-Metro Manila Center for Health Development (DOH-MMCHD) sa Quilts Awards 2022 nitong araw ng Martes, ika-31 ng Mayo, 2022 sa lungsod ng Pasig. Ang pagdiriwang ay sa pangunguna at pakikipagtulungan ng AIDS Society of the Philippines, at Epidemic Control (EpiC) project na siya namang pinopondohan ng United States President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) at United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
Sa ngalan ng pamunuang lungsod ng Pasig, nagpabatid ng kagalakan si Chairperson of the Gender and Development Committee of Pasig City, Councilor Corazon Raymundo na ang paggawad ay ginawa sa kanilang lungsod at kaniyang binati ang mga mahahalagang panauhin mula sa Department of Health (DOH) at USAID Philippines. Binigyang diin nito na ang Quilt Awards ay isang gawad ng kagitingan sa mga tao at organisasyon na tumutugon sa isyu ng Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV).
Giit ni USAID Philippines Deputy Mission Director, Mr. Brandon Miller sa kaniyang mensahe, na sa kabila ng pandemya ay inaalala ang mga nasawi sanhi ng HIV, “The International AIDS Candlelight Memorial has historically been a way to remember those we have lost in the HIV epidemic. We remember the people who were rendered invisible by stigma and discrimination, who fought long and hard to be acknowledged as deserving of health services, people who paved the way for the comprehensive services we are able to offer today” saad nito.
Iyon naman ay sinang-ayunan ni Department of Health Disease Control and Prevention Bureau (DPCB) and Health Promotion Bureau (HPB) Director Beverly Ho. Apila nito, ang programa laban HIV ay kabilang sa sinusulong na Universal Health Care (UHC), kung saan pinakamahalagang mailapit at maiabot sa mga tao ang kanilang mga partikular na pangangailangang pangkalusugan, lalo na sa panahon ngayon ng teknolohiya na makakagarantiya ng pagpapaabot ng mga serbisyo.
Nag-abot ng plake ng rekognisyon sina DOH Dir. Ho, EpiC Philippines Project Director Teresita Marie Bagasao, AIDS Society of the Philippines President Irene Fonacier-Fellizar, Dr. Deidra Parrish, at USAID Mr. Miller kina DOH-MMCHD Regional Director Gloria Balboa, Local Health Support Division Chief Dr. Amelia Medina, Infectious Diseases Prevention and Control Cluster Head Dr. Adorissa Jurao, at Nurse V Mr. Dominic Sotto.
Ginawaran din ng pagkilala ang ilang pasilidad na umangat sa kanilang mga stratehiya kontra-HIV. Dumalo naman sa nasabing okasyon ang mga kinatawan ng 52 HIV Health Facilities mula sa National Capital Region, Central Luzon at kabuuang rehiyon ng Southern Tagalog.
