Secretary Francisco T. Duque 111 of Department of Health (DOH) spearheaded the ceremonial inoculation of Gamaleya-Sputnik V vaccines at Sta. Ana Hospital together with DOH Assistant Secretary Elmer G. Punzalan Metro Manila Center for Health Developmeni (MMCHD) Director Gloria J. Balboa, Manila Vice Mayor Hon. Maria Sheilah "Honey" Lacuna-Pangas, City Health Officer Dr. Arnold "Poks" Martin Pangan, City Administrator Felixberto D. Espiritu and Director of Sta. Ana Hapital Dr. Grace H. Padilia.
Sta. Ana Hospital is one of the first hospitals in Manila that has received 3,000 ampules of Sputnik V that can vaccinate 1,500 individuals among A1 priority group.
During the ceremony Dr. Padilla said, "Kami po ay lubos na nagpapasalamat sa ating Presidente, sa ating Department of Health na walang humpay na tumutulong sa ating ospital para po mabigyan ng karampatang lunas ang ating mga pasyente."
In addition, Sec. Duque recognized all the healthcare workers and employees of the hospital for their sacrifices to beat the COVID-19 pandemic. "Saludo ang taong bayan sa ating mga medical front liners at sa ating mga administrative staff na nagpapabilis ng mga gawain ng mga healthcare workers, kaya naman inuuna rin natin ang mga health employees na mabakunahan," he emphasized. He also reminded the public to constantly follow the minimum public health standards and take the available vaccines that was approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
Moreover, Mr. Walther B. Rigonan a biomedical technologist was vaccinated by Sec. Duque during the ceremonial vaccination. This event ended with hope to all the healthcare workers for having additional protection not only for themselves but for their family.
