Today in Unang Hirit, Regional Director Gloria J. Balboa shared the tips on Home Quarantine intended for anyone who have been exposed to COVID-19.
“If possible, alloca te a separate room with adequate ventilation and a separate bathroom”, she stated for people who are practicing home quarantine. Other household members shall also limit interaction with the quarantined person and shall assign separate dishes, drinking glasses, cups, eating utensils, towels, bedding, and other.
Dr. Balboa reiterated that a quarantined person and other household members must also prepare medical kit comprised of face masks, alcohol or sanitizer, tissue, and medicines in their home.
She explained that common COVID-19 symptoms include loss of smell and taste, cough, muscle pain, sore throat, fever, and breathing difficulties. “People with the same infection may have different symptoms, and their symptoms may change over time” she stated.
If oximeter is not available, it is advised to look for symptoms of low blood oxygen levels such as shortness of breath, restlessness, confusion, and dizziness. When a person is experiencing low oxygen levels, deep breathing exercises is advised. A person with COVID-19 who showed difficulty in breathing should be brought to the nearest hospital immediately.
Most importantly, Dr. Balboa shared nutrition advice to people who contracted COVID-19. She also added that steam inhalation or ‘suob’ is a widely used home remedy that can soothe and open up our airways.
