Today, 1st of March 2021, the National COVID-19 Vaccination Operations Center launched its first vaccination for medical frontliners of the COVID-19 referral hospital: University of the Philippines – Philippine General Hospital (UP-PGH).

UP-PGH was chosen to be the first to vaccinate one hundred (100) medical frontliners which was spearheaded by the Medical Center Director Dr. Gerardo Legaspi. He is the first medical frontliner to be vaccinated with CoronaVac Vaccine of Sinovac in the Philippines. The process of vaccination includes pre-qualification, registration, screening, and actual vaccination.

The event, hosted by Dr. Jonas del Rosario, Spokeperson of UP-PGH, commenced at exactly 9:00 AM. It was graced by other government officials including Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Director General Eric Domingo, Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Chairman Benhur Abalos, Presidential Spokesperson, Sec. Harry Roque, Manila City Mayor Isko D. Moreno, Department of Health – Metro Manila Center for Health Development Assistant Regional Director Dr. Ma. Paz P. Corrales, and Vaccine Czar Sec. Carlito Galvez.

The highlight of the messages came from Sec. Galvez: “Walang iwanan, walang maiiwan.” He was also inoculated with the last vaccine prepared, as the end of the ceremonial vaccination.
