Today, Department of Health - Metro Manila Center for Health Development Regional Director, Dr. Corazon I. Floras encourages mothers to join in the comprehensive MR-SIA campaign against measles and rubella in an interview with Usec. Rocky Ignacio of PTV 4 Laging Handa
"sa atin pong mga nanay, kalusugan at kaligtasan ng atin pong mga anak, atin pong pangalagaan. Atin pong dalhin ang ating mga anak, ang mga bata na eded 9 na buwan hanggang 59 months sa health center o temporary vaccination post. Ang atin pong bakuna ay ligtas at libre".
The intensified MR-SIA happened after the unimmunized pool of children increased last 2019-resulted in confinement, death of children, and declaration of Measles outbreak.
Meanwhile, due to COVID-19 and region-wide lockdowns in 2020, parents and caregivers feared to go to health centers for vaccination triggers the decline of numbers of immunized children.
